Itajime shibori is a shaped-resist technique. Traditionally, the cloth is sandwiched between two pieces of wood, which are held in place with string. All kinds of modern resists can be used today (eg. plexiglass and clamps). At Bibelot Design Studio we still use wood as our resist and are always experimenting with new ways to use this beautiful technique which dates back to the 8th century.
We use 100% flax linen as the base for the indigo dye.
Border on frame is 1" wood veneer with a 2.5" x 5" itajime shibori panel.
We use only the best quality easel backs for our frames. They are very strong and sturdy.
