Kumo shibori is created by pleating and binding fabric. The cloth is gathered and held together tightly by twisting string along the pleats. The end result is a very intricate looking "spider web" pattern. Given the nature of hand dyeing no two pieces are alike, the Japanese term for this is "aji" which translates to "flavor" or little differences.
We use 100% flax linen as the base for the indigo dye.
Border on frame is 1".
We use only the best quality easel backs for our frames. They are very strong and sturdy. Frame can be positioned horizontal or vertical.
